MRD On the Runway | Melvin Jewelry

As promised, MRD is introducing you another special brand: Melvin Jewelry, discovered in Ora Showroom in the heart New York City’s fashion district.

Martha Clifford, the designer who brought us M.Clifford Designs and who was the object of our last MRD On the Runway blog post has teamed up with her fashion savvy niece Morgan Walker to introduce Melvin Jewelry. This feminine, edgy and modern NYC-made jewelry line will certainly add a touch of vintage to any of your outfits.

The line, debuting in Fall 2011, features the unique collections “Untamed”, “Decommissioned”, and “Out of Africa.” Mixing unused bullets, antique gold finishes, metals and pieces of leathers, Untamed and Decommissioned collections are MRD favs!

“Untamed” was the first collection from Melvin and debuted in Fall 2011. Including a variety of animals and bold creatures such as Elephants, Tigers, Rams, & Flies, you are sure to find something that speaks to your wild side! The collection offers an array of necklaces, cuffs, rings, and earrings that are guaranteed to get you noticed.

Melvin’s “Decommissioned” collection also debuted in Fall of 2011 after Martha was inspired by nothing less than…a bullet! She had seen others use this in their designs, but what sets this collection apart is the use of replicating the end “Cheerio” on the bullet rather than the entire bullet itself. With the round yet irregular edges of these bullets, each piece of jewelry from the line of 14 pieces is as unique as its concept. Martha and Morgan were able to come up with a variety of necklaces, cuffs, rings, and earrings, and each available in either antique gold or silver finishes.

“The typical Melvin woman is a little bohemian, edgy, and artsy,” said Martha Clifford. Finding inspiration from fashion, culture, travel, and the unexpected, it’s ultimately this design duo’s differences that make Melvin something truly special. Since the pair joined forces a little over a year ago, Clifford and Walker’s fashions have been featured in ElleTeen Vogue, and O Magazine, among others.

Oh! And did we tell you that we have been able to take a peek at the brand new pieces for Fall 2012? We are telling you, Melvin’s fans won’t be disappointed!
