Last week-end was a very exciting one for the American Fashion World. On June 4, the “Oscar for Fashion” event known as the Council for Fashion Designers of America (CFDA)’s Fashion Awards was taking place at the Alice Tully Hall in New York City.
This year, the event presented something new to us: the 2012 CFDA Fashion Awards was exclusively broadcast on June 5 on Style.com. For the first time, none of us needed to be invited to the physical event and yet still able to watch the whole show. Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen were the night’s stars as they took home the top honor of Womenswear Designer of the Year for The Row. Aligned with our values, MRD was especially inspired by the emerging designers’ nominees and winners. These awards were presented on behalf of Swarovski for Phillip Lim (Menswear), Tabitha Simmons (accessory), and Joseph Altuzarra (womenswear). More specifically, MRD has been following the evolution of the latter. Already promising, let’s review how talented he is!
Emerging Talent in Womenswear: Joseph Altuzarra
Recently winner of a CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Award, the Paris-born fashion designer Joseph Altuzarra has now taken home a second prestigious CFDA Award within a year. Its one-of-a-kind label provides a contemporary and practical wardrobe for the modern woman. Tired to see polite dresses designs which New York Fashion is surrounded with, Joseph started developing body-conscious, flattering and feminine clothing. Since 2007 his business has never stopped growing!
Many celebrities are already adept of the new rising star. Among others, Brooklyn Decker, Jennifer Lawrence, Karolina Kurkova, Kate Bosworth, Kim Kardashian, Leighton Meester, and Rihanna have been spotted wearing Altuzarra on the Red Carpet.
Kim Kardashian often criticized for her fashion misses, looked gorgeous this time. This white deep v-neck Altuzarra dress can’t better highlight her feminine curves. With her glossy hair, she looks very polished and the drape of the dress makes her waist looks quite tiny! Pro-tips: The white color and the long sleeves make the dress versatile. This dress can be wearing just as much on a cool summer night than in early fall.
Actress and former model Brooklyn Decker looked very classy in her Fall 2012 Altuzarra dress. The 24-year-old pulled off a simple but yet sophisticated look in this navy sleeveless crepe sheath dress. Pro-tips: We love how her rose gold metal Louboutin shoes (whom we can’t get enough of) are matched with the gold buttons lining of the dress.
If you are wondering whether you can wear a tank dress and not look casual, think Jennifer Lawrence. The Hunger Games actress chose to wear an original Altuzarra navy blue tank dress for her appearance on the David Letterman show. We love the unique piece of clothing because of its asymmetric hem. The key to her look is all about the accessories: high heels and tiny and sleek leather belt greatly contributes to style up the dress. Could it be the next version of the very popular high-low skirt?
What do you think of this newly CFDA award-winning? Is it part of your new favorites? Which of his design do you like the most?
